Caribbean Tourism Grows in 2005

The number of tourists who visited the Caribbean rose last year, but the pace of growth was half that of the previous two years, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization. The strongest growth was posted in the Dominican Republic, with 7 percent growth and Cuba, with 13 percent growth. Tourism in the Dutch Caribbean islands, including Aruba and Curacao, grew by only 2 percent, while Puerto Rico and the U, S, Virgin islands had gains of about 3 percent.
